Township Treasurer

Overview

The treasurer is an elected position in the Township as is the Township Supervisor and Clerk. Most of the duties for this position are regulated and dictated by the State of Michigan.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Treasurer is required to receive and take charge of all funds belonging to the Township or which are required by law to be paid into the Township treasury.
  • To pay over and account for the funds according to law or Township board decision.
  • The Treasurer is the Township's agent for collecting taxes.
  • Maintain accurate records of all income, receipts and disbursements.
  • Deposit all receipts in the Township depository or depositories.

  • Property Tax Information

    Unfortunately, I cannot give out any property tax information until July 1st for summer taxes and December 1st for winter taxes. I do not receive this information from the county until these dates. If you need estimated tax amounts that information can be found at the Property Tax Payment Estimator link.

  • Escrowed Taxes

    If your taxes are escrowed it is your responsibility to inform you escrow company of the tax amount due as well as the tax due date.

  • Summer Taxes

    Summer taxes are due September 14th. Beginning September 15th a 1% per month interest penalty will be assessed. You may apply for a deferment of penalties and/or interest on summer taxes based on income, age, disability, or military service status. You may access and print off a deferment form by following the link on the left.

  • Winter Taxes

    Winter taxes are due no later than February 28th. On March 1st all unpaid property taxes are turned over to the county and must be paid at the county office. Please contact them at 989-832-6850 to get correct amount due as there will be additional penalties applied.

  • Payment Location

    When making a payment you may send it to the address above or in person at the Lincoln Township Hall on scheduled dates. There is also a drop box available 24/7 at the Township Hall. The treasurer's office will be located at the Lincoln Township Hall on the above statute dates.

  • Receipt

    Due to the high cost of postage a tax receipt must be requested by including a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment. You may also print a receipt by accessing the county website at the “Property Tax & Assessing Information UPDATE THIS***” link on the left of this page.

    Lincoln Township does accept debit/credit card payments via AllPaid.com.
    If paying by debit, a $3.95 service fee will be charged; if paying by credit, a 3.5% service fee is charged for your transaction.

  • Misc.
    Didn’t receive a tax bill?

    State statute says that even though you did not receive a property tax bill that does not excuse said property owner from paying their property taxes and a 1% interest penalty will be assessed.

    We do not accept postmarks so please allow 10 business days for your payment to reach the treasurers office

    Name and Address Changes

    Please contact the township treasurer with any mailing address changes you may have. If you have a name change due to death, sale of property, etc. you must contact the Midland County Register of Deeds to file the proper papers.
